Danielle Burke

Danielle Burke currently serves as Deputy City Manager for the City of Garden City, Kansas, where she leads a team of departments including Police, Fire, Municipal Court, the Garden City Regional Airport, and Neighborhood & Development Services. In this role, she has supported the city's economic development efforts that have resulted in millions of dollars in private investment, helped facilitate a regional summit on Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding, and worked to bring millions of dollars in state and federal funding to the community.

Prior to joining Garden City, Danielle spent several years with the City of Lawrence, Kansas, serving as in a number of different roles that included Budget & Strategic Initiatives Administrator and Interim Finance Director. During her tenure there, she led the development of the city's $400 million annual budget, facilitated a major public engagement process for the city's strategic plan, and helped implement priority-based budgeting practices.

Danielle is an active member of the local government profession, having been recognized with the Kansas Association of City/County Managers' Early Career Excellence Award and the City of Lawrence LEAP Performance Award. She has served as a delegate to Local Government 2030 and is a founding member of the Kansas Chapter of Women Leading Government. Since 2022, she has instructed for the University of Kansas Public Management Center's Certified Public Manager program, facilitating sessions on Managing Outcomes.

Danielle holds a Master's of Public Administration from the University of Kansas and a Bachelor's of Arts in Communication Studies from the University of Nebraska.
