Law Enforcement & Community Relations Workshop

Blue shattered glass background Law Enforcement Relations

This workshop is designed for departments that are ready to address some of the difficult history around police practices and the communities they serve.  We discuss important moments in the history of policing, their effects on public trust, and changes local police departments can make today to increase the legitimacy of their departments.

  • Review the historic role of policing in the United States and understand the lasting impact on law enforcement today.
  • Determine whether community engagement practices commonly used by law enforcement are effective.
  • Explore policing practices that may contribute to an erosion of community trust and determine whether any changes need to be made.
